How To Maintain A Synthetic Weave & Make It Last Longer

Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog. So you already know what this post is about from the title. I've been meaning to do it or a while. I wish I could say I only rock human hair but I actually don't. I have never bought human hair, Brazilian hair, Peruvian hair, virgin hair, or all those type of hairs. Not because I'm not into them or anything but truth is, I don't just have the money for that right now, if you want to gift me human hair, please contact me here so I can send my shipping address but for now I'm going to make do with what I have which is synthetic and rock it to the fullest.

So the major thing we all know with synthetic hair is it doesn't last long, it mats up really quickly and tangles and all those bad stuff which makes human hair no matter how pricey much better. But for those of you who are like me who still go for synthetic hair, here are some tips that can help you take care of your weave, maintain it and make it last longer.

1.Brush or comb your weave everyday to untangle it - to maintain synthetic weave, you have to make sure you detangle it by combing every single day unless it's a kinky weave like this one here which you have to just detangle with your fingers so it doesn't just bundle up especially on days when you're not stepping out and you probably just leave the hair tied up.

2. Sleep with a satin or silk scarf, bonnet or pillow case - this is very important especially or us black girls. Not just when you have a weave on but in general. Silk or satin material helps to keep your scalp from drying out. Sleep on a satin pillow case otherwise, use a satin bonnet or get  a scarf that's satin or silk.

3. Trim when the tips get rough - You probably have or haven't noticed that I'm always trimming my hair not because I just prefer cutting it or changing up the style (which I actually like by the way) but because of the tips. As your weave gets older, the tips start becoming thicker, tougher and rough aka sponging and it's just an eye sore so I always take my scissors and keep trimming. Especially for longer weaves like my red ombre hair.

4. Apply some hair food or oil when it looks dull -  Apply hair food or oil on your hair so it comes back to life. Although, it might scream out synthetic a little more because of the shine.

5. Use a spray or hair mouse for smells - When your weave starts to smell of sweat, dirt, dust or product build up, you can apply a mouse or hair spray. This can also help to hold up the curls if it's a curl weave.

So that's 5 ways to maintain a synthetic weave and make them last longer. Now that there's human hair which is less work, do you still like synthetic weaves? Let me know in the comments below.
