How To Become Better At Your Own Makeup

And today, I'm sharing with you guys how you can improve your makeup skills and get better at doing your own makeup. Now a little disclaimer, I'm far far away from being a makeup guru or having flawless makeup but I've really come a long way from when I first started experimenting with makeup and surprisingly, I get a lot of questions and people tend to think I'm a pro.

become better at make up

I'll probably share how and why I started wearing makeup in a future post. However, if you're a beginner and/or just starting to experiment with makeup techniques on your face and skin and you feel like you really really suck at it or just feel like you'll never be able to do this for yourself, here are some tips that helped me get better and hopefully they help you till you and I become the very best 😊

First of all, you should actually have an interest in makeup, hollup! What am I even saying? Of course, you do, if you didn't,  you wouldn't be reading this post in the first place, I'm so sorry. So...

The first few whole lot of times I tried to fill in my brows cause I had been seeing girls on Instagram with these perfect eyebrows and I thought it was easy breezy and mine looked hideous nothing like the Instagram girls. I used to feel so insecure like "Daniella, you can't draw simple eyebrows", it used to frustrate me especially when I've drawn and cleaned it off like 50 times and my eyebrows and forehead are already hurting from the continuous cleaning. Don't get frustrated! That's just the first step to learning anything new really, if you try and don't quite get it, just relax, go and learn some more tricks, watch some tutorials then come back and try again.

When I first started out, I was so enthusiastic, you couldn't tell me anything. People used to laugh at me, and say things like "oh your brows look so funny", my friends, classmates, housemate but if you don't try, how are you suppose to get better. So don't be afraid to try.

Don't wait for your friend, sister, mother, aunty, roommate to come through before you can practice. Use the one face that's readily available which is whose? Yours! Exactly... so get some wet wipes, draw on your face, clean it off, try again, clean it off and repeat! Until you get your perfect shape, arch, everything.

I can't emphasize this enough, watch a lot of tutorials. When someone asks me, how did you learn to draw your eyebrows like this that they can't seem to master it and I tell them about Youtube tutorials, they're always not ready to listen but Youtube makeup tutorials are the truth, you guys. You can learn a whole lot, I've learnt a whole lot from there. For beginners, I know they're tonnes of channels but check out Toni Olaoye, Uwani Aliyu, Ronke Raji, Alyssa Ashley for some detailed, very explained and easy to follow makeup looks, share some more suggestions in the comments if you have any.

As cliche as it sounds, practice makes perfect. Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and did I say practiceeeeeee. For those in the back, who can't hear me properly 📣📣  practiceeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!  Don't stop practising.

Don't wait until you have the products that the girls on youtube and Instagram are using. Go to your own local stores and buy what products are there. You don't have money for the expensive ones? No problem, buy the cheap ones and start with them. You don't need to have all the products before you can start learning and producing something that is at least presentable.

You have to keep learning, keep watching videos, subscribe to lots of makeup channels on Youtube, follow makeup bloggers on Instagram. I'm not a makeup blogger but subscribe to my channel too and follow me on Instagram too, thank you, both @dateswithdanie 😘. Keep learning the new tricks, new makeup routines, and if you have the money, invest in good quality makeup cause quality makeup will help you attain a more flawless face and if you don't have the money, get the cheaper products little by little and make them work for you.
