6 Things I Struggle With As A Newbie Blogger (Consistency, Instagram, Authenticity etc)

Struggles of a blogger

Things I Struggle With As A Newbie Blogger

Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog. I'll be letting you guys in on some of the daily struggles in my life while trying to navigate through this world of blogging.  Truth is, it's really not as easy as people might think and as you may have noticed, I've decided to take blogging as a whole more seriously at least since the beginning of this year. Hopefully, other bloggers and anyone really can relate to these

1. Pictures - so first of all, pictures. Blogging requires taking photos, photos for your blog posts and also for social media especially Instagram (because that's where I'm active right now and trying to build a following on). Since I don't have a professional camera like a DSLR or all those good stuff, I'm learning to take good quality photos with my iPhone and editing them so they look more presentable because poor quality photos in this day and age will really not take you far in this blogging world. I shared a post about free apps you should download now for bomb photos, you can read that here.

2. Consistency - Consistency is key, I've heard that, read that over and over again but even at that, it's not easy to be consistent with your blog posts and social media updates especially when combining blogging with school and all the other cares of life which is why I can't really set particular days for posting but I try to be as consistent as I can by making out time and trying my best because it's something I love doing.

3. Social media - okay, non - bloggers might be thinking what's the big deal about social media? Actually when you become a blogger, your social networks are not just for connecting with your friends and family anymore or meeting new people. They become platforms for you to showcase you work, present yourself, branding and connecting with both existing and potential followers and even working with brands. So I've had to try to navigate my way around it by reading so many articles and watching YouTube videos about growing your following and trying to implement them because to really go far, numbers kind of do matter. And it's not so easy to get people to follow you anymore, so if you're reading this and you want to help a girl out, please follow me on Instagram here, like my Facebook page here and you can also follow me on Bloglovin too. Thank you so much.

4. Being my authentic self - I personally struggle with being original and authentic especially when it comes to the nature of my posts and how I write. Although I've learnt to just be me but sometimes, you visit other top blogs and even if it's unconsciously, you find yourself trying to do things the way that other blogger does. I consciously always have to check myself.

and this too, lol

5. Bloggers Block - You know sometimes I just don't know what to blog about believe it or not. I'll just be blank until ideas begin to flow so even as a new blogger, I experience bloggers block.

6. Technical side of things - the technical side of things can sometimes be challenging  like when something goes wrong with your theme or you are trying to install certain widgets, add certain features to your site. It requires a lot of googling stuff especially since I do everything myself.

So yeah those are just 6 struggles summarized. Can any other bloggers or creatives relate? Do you also have any helpful tips to share? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. I really want to learn. P.S. you've probably seen these pictures from my Instagram, also had to use them on the blog as well. Just couldn't let them waste.  Thanks for reading guys! 1. The part about unconsciously trying to be like other bloggers is such a strong point Danie, and it just hits home. When I started off blogging, I had a lot of foreign following and even attached myself to a niche in the "foreign" community. So naturally, my blogging style and voice was geared towards that side. When I followed many Nigerian successful bloggers finally, I began to switch up and try to blog in a "Nigerian" way and I can tell you, I failed woefully. I still find it hard to connect with most naija bloggers sha but that's gist for another day. I love that you've taken your blog seriously and that you are more consistent now. That's really hard too with school and everything, but if you love what you do, you'll always make it work. Okay lemme end here before I write a blog post on your blog post 😂😂

    1. Lol @ writing a blog post on mine. Thanks for reading Ash! I can relate with you 100%. I've read and heard it over and over again that you should find and stick to your own blogging voice. I've tried to do things like others and i also failed woefully so right now, I'm just being me. xx
