The Mom Tag !! With My Nigerian Mother

by - March 26, 2017

I have been wanting to do this tag for the longest time. So when I saw that mother's day was around the corner, I jumped at it. I want to celebrate all the mothers and mothers-to-be out there o n this special day and I especially celebrate my amazing mom, Mrs. Christy Bature for her endless sacrifices, untiring work, and her love that goes to the length, depth, breadth and height of this world. How she combines being a mom and a dad as well to I and my 3 other siblings and trust me, we are a handful but I wouldn't trade her for anything. Her joy is my joy and her peace is my peace.

I can't wait to take her all over the world because she deserves the best and much more. I love you mommy! I know you will read this! So onto the tag! My mom is answering some questions about me, my childhood and so on, I found the questions online, feel free to participate in this tag, it's not strictly for mother's day only and besides we should celebrate our mothers every day not once in a year, so again, I love you momma Danie! *Big Kiss*

1. What was I like as a child?
As a child, you were very intelligent for your age. You were a proper child, you didn't want to behave like other children. You didn't want to dirty your clothes. You were very clean, beautiful. Just that once in a while, you exhibit the characteristics of children just once in a while. You didn't mingle with children, you were reserved sort of. Until pre-nursery and nursery before you started mingling with children. At that nursery group, you were a pace setter, you were above your equals.

She's the "bestesttest" if any word like that exists

2. What do you think of me blogging?
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a kind of social media, educating people about your ideas, about life and people learning from it.

3. What's something funny I did when I was younger?
Children do a lot of funny things but you didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Struggling with balloons with other children, wanting to collect things, everything should be handed over to you.

4. Have you learned anything about makeup/beauty from me?

Yes, I have learned a lot. I have even bought an IMAN concealer and I'm using it. I'm drawing my eyebrows not like the tiny one I used to draw because people are not drawing tiny one anymore, it's a bit thicker. With just a little lip gloss. I don't like red lips. I have long nice nails so I don't like fixing anything on them because I'm afraid it will spoil it.

5. What's a weird habit of mine?
You don't have any habits that are weird. It's just like you don't like us spending money outrageously, you always want us to save for rainy days not just see and blow it at once. And that's not weird, it's a very good habit.

6. If you had to rename your daughter, what would you name her?
Any name that signifies proper, obedience, correct no one is perfect though but maybe Emmanuella or properella, is there any name like that?

Her smile makes my heart melt and she loves open mouthed, full teeth on display, say cheese kind of smiles

7.When you guys go out to eat what does she order?
In those days of Mr. Biggs and Oasis, meat pie, cake, chicken. We used to call her chicken baby. She also likes bread and ice cream.

8. What is one thing you wish she would do?
Set up a wireless telecoms firm or company.

Mama Danie

9. What's something I do that annoys you?
Is there anything? It's just that when you're bent on getting something, you must get the thing. This thing must be done and you must go all out.

10. Whats something I obsess over?
It's Hard work! Determination! Dilligence!

My mom's favourite quote is "he who believeth does not make haste" and "We're just trusting God"

11. Where would you like to see me in 10 years?
In 10 years time, running a telecoms firm, happily married with about 4 or 5 children.

12. When were you most proud of me?
Those moments in the school at the speech and prize giving day/graduation when you'll pack all the prizes in your class. I'll get tired of getting up and being called and the big trophy and all of your GPAs even right now.

Mom & Sister

 13. What's the worst thing I've ever done?
Was the time you beat someone with broom and since then, you've not beaten anybody again.

14. What's your favorite moment of us together?
In the zoo, December 2013 and also Gamji gate park in Kaduna.

15. How was I in school?
Determination, diligence, hard work academic wise has always being your motto.

Mommy and my younger sister, Jojo

16. What would you change if you could raise me again?
Ahn, I'll not want to change anything. What will I change?

17. Describe my perfect type of guy.
A man who is diligent, determined, disciplined all-round, anointed, can raise the dead. Can make declarations and things will be happening. A man who is loving, caring. I will have to interview and scrutinize the man, ask questions. He has to be of my heart or above the height a little. Any complexion. Anyone but not from Kogi, Edo or Kaduna.

My responses : So I haven't seen my mother in like 3 years so this conversation was actually over the phone and I miss her so much even more now. I was laughing hard through out the Q & A and so were my siblings on the other end of the line. When my mom said I have a habit of not wanting to spend outrageously, it's sooo true. I am always like do we need to go to that place, do we need to buy that, can't we manage this and save the money and my siblings hate it sooo much cause I'm always spoiling their parole lol. My mom says she would rename me proper if she had the chance to or proper-ella and then I was like "mommy, there is no name like properella o" She said ok, Emmauella. Then my mom said in 10 years time I should have 4 - 5 kids?????? "Abeg o!" As for my type of guy, she got some things right but I don't know what she means by a man that can raise the dead, I don't want to marry a man of God sha! And my mom isn't a tribalist or anything, she just has some reservations based on past experiences!

I remember the incident when I beat I think it was my brother with a broom, the African kind of brooms for sweeping the ground. Can't remember what he did but back then, I was a harsh, disciplinarian big sister and I agree but they used to do really annoying things, "Nathan I'm sorry though if you read this, lol". All in all, I would love to feature my mom on the blog again maybe in video form. She's the strongest person I know, life had thrown her a lot of blows. Sometimes, I feel if I were in her shoes, I would have given up a long time ago but every day she gets up from bed takes the bull by the horn, looks her challenges squarely in the face and deals with them. My mom can give her last and she has given her last on so many occasions just so my siblings and I can have the best. She fights so many battles on a daily and still remains very positive, optimistic and encouraging and her love for God is unshaken and undying. Happy mother's day!
